ULB commits to digital responsibility ULB commits to digital responsibility ======================================= CIVIS Highlights 25 Νοεμβρίου 2024 The Université libre de Bruxelles has taken an important step towards digital sustainability by signing the ISIT.be Charter for Responsible Digital Use. This initiative is part of a drive to reduce the environmental impact of technologies while promoting ethical and inclusive practices in the use of digital technology. ![](/storage/files/image004.png)©ULB​​​The University confirmed its commitment to a sustainable digital transition by signing the [responsible digital charter](https://sustainableit-tools.isit-europe.org/?cat=1) developed by [ISIT.be](https://isit-be.org/fr/bienvenue-a-linstitut-du-numerique-belge) (Institute for Sustainable IT) at the beginning of November. This internationally recognised charter establishes a reference framework for a digital world that is more respectful of the environment and human rights. It encourages signatories to adopt ethical, inclusive and sustainable practices in the use and development of technologies. In other words, it sets out key principles for reconciling technological innovation, ecological responsibility and social inclusion. An approach in tune with today's challenges ------------------------------------------- Given the ever-increasing impact of digital technology on our daily lives, academic institutions play a central role in raising awareness and implementing sustainable solutions. In adopting this charter, ULB is committed to: - optimise digital tools to limit their impact and consumption, - develop services that are accessible to all, inclusive and sustainable, - implement ethical and responsible digital practices, - making digital technology measurable, transparent and legible, - encourage the emergence of new behaviours and values.
